The Nemo Museum Science Museum is a science center and museum of the neighboring countries in Amsterdam.
The science-based NEMO collection explains to the visitor how energy has shaped and influenced our world. About 19,500 artifacts are kept here that tell the story of man and energy in its broadest sense: from the parlor to the Walkman, from the Humphry Davy lamp to the lamppost, from the ancient dynamo to the surge generator.
The museum's collection is certainly vast: much of the technology section was moved here in 2008 from what used to be the city's Energy Museum.
The museum stands out from the others for being the only one of its kind to keep objects that are still functional. Four main collections can be visited at NEMO: Lighting, Electrical Engineering, Energy Generation and Storage and Technology at Home.
