In the heart of South Tyrol, surrounded by the peaks of the Catinaccio, rises Museion – Bolzano's museum of modern and contemporary art . A futuristic architecture, played on transparency and fluidity, welcomes the museum in the venue designed by the KSV studio in Berlin . Thanks to a courageous and international exhibition programme, which has brought the strongest positions of the current art scene, often to national premières, Museion has established itself among the major museums of contemporary art in Italy and in the Alpine area.
The collection has over 4500 works and is presented in rotation in thematic itineraries, often in dialogue with other public and private collections. It reflects the history and exhibition choices of the museum over time - between the research nuclei of art and language, the languages of sculpture, the critical re-reading of the present and the positions of non-European artists. Meeting point and covered square. Bringing the contemporary experience close to the public: with this commitment Museion offers a rich program of mediation and events. In the summer months, the media facade illuminates the city with highly evocative artist videos. The Passage space, open to external events, makes Museion a point of reference for contemporary cultural events and therefore music, dance and performance.
