The Madre - Donnaregina Museum of Contemporary Art - is an important museum in the historic center of Naples .

The contemporary art museum of the Campania Region inaugurated its spaces in 2005 with site-specific installations by Domenico Bianchi, Francesco Clemente, Luciano Fabro, Rebecca Horn, Anish Kapoor, Jeff Koons, Jannis Kounellis, Sol LeWitt, Richard Long, Mimmo Paladino, Giulio Paolini and Richard Serra.

Since 2013, thanks to the Per_formare unacollezione project, dedicated to the progressive formation of the museum's permanent collection, the Madre combines archival research and new productions. Today the collection includes 300 works including acquisitions, donations and long-term loans.

A cultural and research hub, the Madre organizes and promotes exhibitions, presentations of books and projects, educational workshops, meetings with artists, events, concerts, performance programs and activities aimed at social inclusion: a museum bearing witness to a past and a contemporaneity that has made Campania a crossroads of all the arts, aimed at studying and documenting the past through contemporary languages and culture, and therefore able to act in the present and outline the future.

The Madre welcomes visitors of all ages and nationalities every day.

The Madre - Donnaregina Contemporary Art Museum is spread over 7,200 m2 of exhibition spaces restored and used as a museum by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. It also includes a library, a media library, a bookshop/café area and two large courtyards.
