MARINE PEIXOTO, WINNER OF THE 4TH EDITION OF THE LE BAL / ADAGP AWARD FOR YOUNG CREATION, WILL EXHIBIT HER WORK AT THE BAL FROM MARCH 7 TO MAY 19, 2024.

The municipal street workout area at Parc de Bercy, in the 12th arrondissement in Paris, brings together many athletes every day. Among them, Medhy, at the initiative of various projects and actions aimed at making the place more than a sports field, invited Marine Peixoto to come and photograph in May 2020.

Her practice then takes the rhythm of the field, and as some do push-ups and pull-ups, Marine Peixoto carries out intensive work of shooting. “Pushing” every day in the field means sculpting yourself, working on a work. The routine, the repetition of training, the cycle of the seasons test her determination to “occupy the present” and force her to constantly renew her point of view on the same thing. This experience of exhaustion of a place and a look is also an implacable act of faith towards others and towards oneself.

A sculpted form of this photographic material accumulated since 2020, the installation at BAL brings together more than 200 prints.
