From next May 25th at Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome, Arthemisia presents the absolute preview of "A Beautiful World", the new project conceived by Mario Testino, one of the most famous contemporary photographers on an international level.

Born in Peru in 1954 to an Irish mother and an Italian father, Mario Testino moved to London in 1976 where he began to make a name for himself and become one of the most innovative fashion and portrait photographers of his generation and his photographs appeared in major fashion magazines of the world. A point of reference of the highest importance in the art of fashion, his images have often become legendary like the people he photographed, from Kate Moss to Madonna, from Naomi Campbell to Lady D and many others.

Terence Pepper, curator of photography at the National Portrait Gallery in London, defined him as the "John Singer Sargent of our times", while the director of the gallery, Charles Saumarez Smith, speaking of the record-breaking retrospective "Mario Testino PORTRAITS" of 2002, said underlined the strong relationship between Testino's work and the tradition of court portraitists, from Holbein to Reynolds, from Goya to Rubens.

Over the last seven years, his search for new subjects beyond the confines of the fashion world has brought his attention to a new creative path, in which he has found inspiration in the cultural identities of the countries in which he began to set his fashion shoots since 2007.

Since 2017 he has spanned more than 30 countries, focusing his art on exploring the cultural and traditional uniqueness still found in a rapidly globalizing world."A Beautiful World" is Testino's extraordinarily magical and nuanced navigation between the complexities and contrasts of our many ways of belonging: individuality and conformity, community, rituals, ideas of self, symbols and belief systems.
