The “Pietro Vannucci” Academy of Fine Arts Museum is located inside the university in the center of the city of Perugia. The Museum was founded in 1997 to enhance the immense artistic heritage held in the Academy's deposits. The Museum's collection is divided into different sections which include paintings, prints, plasters and drawings by the most important modern and contemporary artists. The Heritage includes 430 paintings, 12000 drawings, 6300 engravings and 600 plaster casts. The Academy Museum preserves an artistic heritage of great value: the plaster casts of the Medici tombs sculpted by Michelangelo and his pupil Vincenzo Danti, the preparatory plaster casts of important sculptures by Luca Della Robbia, the plaster casts of Antonio Canova such as that of the "Three Graces ”And finally the cast of Bertel Thorvaldsen the“ Shepherd with the dog ”. The sketches and preparatory graphics of extraordinary importance are also part of the collection. Among the artists present are mentioned: Jean - Baptiste Wicar, Giovan Battista Piranesi, Domenico Bruschi, Mario Mafai, Gerardo Dottori and many others. The Museum hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events that allow the visitor to access the collection and admire the works on display.
