CAM MUSEUM

The CAM_Casoria Contemporary Art Museum , founded and directed by Antonio Manfredi, was founded in 2005 with the desire to become a cultural hub, an experimental laboratory, but above all a point of reference for universal contemporary art with an open context. Born not as a cultural exhibition machine, nor as a museum containing simulacra, the CAM Museum comes close to what we would like every museum to be like today: a place where culture and research are produced, where teaching is carried out, where a hermeneutic experience of contemporaneity is stimulated, creativity is visualized, current aesthetic complexity is known and practiced. The collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Casoria is open to international growth; artists from every country appear without prejudice towards any nation or ethnicity. It covers an area of approximately 3,500 m2 with 3,000 m2. of permanent exhibition. It exhibits permanently and has acquired around 1200 works of contemporary art in painting, sculpture, photography, video, multimedia art and installations by important artists from all over the world. It boasts one of the largest European collections of multimedia art , oriental art , contemporary African art and the most complete collection of works by contemporary Neapolitan artists from the Second World War to today. It carries out promotion, exhibition, cataloguing, conservation activities of contemporary art works and volumes. It designs traveling exhibitions and events in collaboration with important international contemporary art museums. It promotes guided tours of its spaces for teachers, pupils and students of all levels.
