The show

On Saturday 19 September 2020 , the Bisazza Foundation inaugurates the photographic exhibition " Norman Parkinson & Fashion Photography 1948 - 1968 ", a retrospective that traces twenty years of fashion photography through the eyes of Norman Parkinson and four other internationally recognized and celebrated photographers : Milton Greene, Terence Donovan, Terry O'Neill and Jerry Schatzberg.

Curated by Cristina Carrillo de Albornoz and organized by the Bisazza Foundation together with Iconic Images - one of the most important world agencies specializing in the management of art photographic archives - the exhibition is divided into seven different thematic sections - Glamor, Swinging Sixties, City Style, The Art of Travel, Postwar Couture, Exceptional Gowns and Iconic - within which seventy works are exhibited. Iconic images that not only tell the spirit of change of that period (1948-1968), but above all reveal a new way of doing photography and of representing women, especially within fashion services and in portraits.

Terence Donovan and Terry O'Neill, both British, captured the magic of the London atmosphere of the 1960s. Milton Greene and Jerry Schatzberg were American-born directors and photographers. The former became famous for fashion shoots and for photographing numerous celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe. Jerry Schatzberg, a true director of talent, has been able to create some of the most intimate and iconic portraits of his generation, with undisputed sensitivity and narrative quality.

A completely visionary approach, decidedly outside the box, will induce Norman Parkinson to portray, for the first time in those years, the models no longer in the usual photographic studios but in new, more real contexts, preferring the streets, the beaches, places of charm. incredibly exotic. In each shot, full of poetry, Parkinson rarely manages to represent and make the most of the concept of feminine elegance.
