Mandralisca Palace and Museum

In the heart of Cefalù stands the noble palace that was once home of Barons Mandralisca’ family. The Mandralisca Foundation manages the assets of Baron Enrico; paintings, objects of art, antique furniture that belonged to him alive continue to be held in his residence, which is now a Museum. Palazzo Mandralisca is therefore an example of ancient residence of a Sicilian noble family, full of charm and atmosphere. Inside the palace there is, inter alia, the old library, containing about 3,700 volumes of humanistic, historical and philosophical subject, ancient manuscripts of local authors, incunabula and rare “cinquecentine”. In the Main Hall, where the Baron used to receive his guests, the Art Gallery is located, where you can admire paintings dating back to different periods. The so-called Sala dell'Antonello takes its name from the most important painting in the Mandralisca collection, the famous Portrait of Unknown Man by Antonello da Messina, the most talented Italian painter of XV century. Inside the museum there is also an important archeological collection, the result of the research activity which the Baron led for most of his life.
