The show

The Luciana Matalon Foundation is pleased to host the personal exhibition of Augusto Daolio, historical voice of the Nomads , from 4 to 14 September. It is certainly not his death, which took place in 1992, to stop his culture, his history and his great talent for art. For the first time his paintings, oils and inks, are exhibited in Milan in an exhibition path in which they will certainly find a new breath, a new energy. Augusto, known by the general public for his songs that have accompanied two generations for almost thirty years, instead reserves for a few the passions for painting and writing, which were not considered secondary by him, rather a sort of confession of his deeper nature.
His "way" of drawing and painting was not a slave to a method, as well as that of composing. Fantasy guided his hand in search of a surreal and magical world; everything Augusto presented was always and in any case well rooted in nature, mother and handmaid of all things. In fact, from his words we learn: "(...) I draw bewildered landscapes confused in the mind, stolen almost everywhere ... in them the man who is not always visible, but who knows how to mix with things, swaps roles, becomes a horse and a tree, hides, a gesture, a hand, eyes and the infinite sky as a theater, as an ideal staging ".

Augusto Daolio was born in 1947 in Novellara (Reggio Emilia). From adolescence until a few months before his death in October 1992, he sang in the musical group I NOMADI. Unique voice and overflowing personality, in his career Augusto has created a unique style and way of doing show, always interacting with his audience. At the end of the sixties he performed some unreleased songs by Francesco Guccini. He is also the author of some important musical texts that have remained in history. Daolio's artistic activity is not expressed only with music, but also pours his interests into painting, sculpture and poetry. Deeply tied to his land, to his roots, he is however also a great and insatiable traveler, a frequent visitor to museums, art galleries and archaeological sites, from which he draws inspiration for his artistic breaths. Twenty-seven years after his death, the Nomads and his fans prove that they have not forgotten him, still giving him unforgettable memories and tributes.
