Antonio Ratti Foundation

Fondazione Antonio Ratti (FAR) is a non-profit Organization founded by Antonio Ratti in 1985. FAR’s headquarters – “Villa Sucota” – is an 18th Century villa with a landscape garden situated on the western shore of Lake Como.
Lead by Annie Ratti since 2002, FAR has dedicated over 30 years to broaden the knowledge of textiles – exploring textiles' relationships to history and social and technological changes – and the study of contemporary arts, establishing a solid national and international reputation. Throughout its textile collection and its program of workshops, exhibitions and events, FAR promotes studies, researches and debates, working along renowned scholars and critics, as well as established and emerging artists.
The origins of FAR’s textile museum – Museo Studio del Tessuto (MuST) – lie in Antonio Ratti’s longstanding commitment to collecting textiles. The collection includes over 3300 single items and over 2500 pattern books that, all together, illustrate the history of fabrics and textiles from the 3rd to the 20th century.
CSAV – Artists Research Laboratory showcases FAR’s commitment to the field of visual arts. It’s a laboratory of artistic research and practice during which young artists from all over the world have the chance to work side by side with established international artists.
