Lissone, Italy
Inaugurated in the year 2000 and designed according to the latest museum standards, the MAC - Lissone's Museum of Contemporary Art and Design re-interprets the Architectural Rationalism that can be found in north Italy, whose peculiarity is the continuous alternating relationship between internal and external space. MAC houses works by some of the most important Italian and international contemporary painters, who won the "Lissone Award" from 1946 to 1967 and were subsequently purchased by the Museum: Valerio Adami, Karel Appel, Renato Birolli, Mark Boyle, Horia Damian, Piero Dorazio, François Dufrêne, Luis Feito, Peter Klasen, André Marfaing, Mattia Moreni, Edo Murtić, Mario Schifano, Gérard Schneider, Antoni Tàpies, Emilio Vedova and many more. Besides the valorization of the permanent historic collection, the Museum also organizes contemporary art and design exhibitions, among which the editions of the new "Lissone Award".
