The show

The partnership between Alcantara and MAXXI, born in 2011 in the name of research and experimentation, is also renewed for 2020. For the third edition of Studio Visit - a program that every year invites an internationally renowned designer to dialogue with the works of the museum's collection to return his own personal vision - Konstantin Grcic, award-winning German designer, is confronted with an entire trend he traced in the archives of MAXXI Architettura, that of the so-called “fantastic architecture”.

Grcic explores the visionary aspect of the work of Sergio Musmeci, Giuseppe Perugini, Maurizio Sacripanti and a contemporary architect, Bernard Khoury. Through the use of Alcantara, Grcic gives life to a fantastic landscape, at the limits between reality and surreal dimension, reflecting on highly topical issues such as the comparison between natural and artificial, the relationship between man and technology.
