Monza, Italy
The Civic Museums of Monza were founded in 1935 to expose to the public - at the time in the rooms of the Villa Reale - a selection of works of art that the City of Monza had gradually accumulated from the end of the nineteenth century. the Civic Museums reopen to the public in June 2014 inside the “Casa degli Umiliati”, a historic medieval building linked to the religious order of the Humiliate, restored and used as a museum. In the cloister and in the halls of the museum, 140 works of art are exposed which recall, through significant testimonies - from archaeological pieces to bronze sculptures, from large paintings to contemporary art installations - the historical and artistic events of the city of Monza also evoking the most important Italian and European artistic experiences.
