Description

These are two skyphoi and a guttus from the Brittian necropolis of contrada Moio in Cosenza, found in 1932. During the excavation work for the construction of the Civil Hospital, at the foot of a hill that slopes from the north-west towards the Busento a south, seventy tombs were identified - all of the Capuchin type with the exception of a single chest - some of which were close together so as to have suggested a division by family groups. The skyphoi are objects that are repeated in several variations in the same tomb, while the gutti, objects generally identified - due to their characteristic shape with a spout and an opposite 90 ° handle - as containers for the administration of liquids, often attributed to a use strictly connected to children, they come from tombs in which they are associated with skyphoi and ointments, which cannot be said with certainty to belong to children.
