The show

The exhibition path imagined by Dor Guez with “Sabir” includes a collection of archival documents, two video works and a new sound installation, produced and commissioned for the occasion by MAN.

The artist activates a wide-ranging reflection on the sense of belonging to a community, in relation to the great history and its upheavals: raised in Israel in a family in which Christian, Arab, Jewish and Palestinian elements are intertwined, Guez belongs to a minority in the minority in the state of Israel, that of the Palestinian community of Christian faith. And it is from here that the artist offers his own view of the Mediterranean, proposed in the halls of the MAN museum.

The project is part of the exhibition program curated by Luigi Fassi, the new director of the institution, which marks the reopening of the MAN exhibition season and which also includes Dor Guez's solo show “Sabir” and the collective “O Youth and Beauty! " by the artists Anna Bjerger, Louis Fratino, Waldemar Zimbelmann. The exhibitions, through the different stylistic renditions and the different languages, testify to the need of the artists to activate an investigation on their own cultural identity with one look at the past and the other at the future and progress, in dialogue with the European spectator.
