The show

Alessandro Mendini small daily fantasies is the first exhibition event that an Italian public museum, the Madre, dedicates to Alessandro Mendini (Milan 1931-2019) after his death in the winter of last year.

The exhibition produced by the Donnaregina Foundation for contemporary arts of the Campania Region, in collaboration with Elisa and Fulvia Mendini and the Alessandro Mendini Studio, curated by Gianluca Riccio and Arianna Rosica, intends to celebrate one of the most important figures in the international panorama of design and architecture of the second postwar period. Starting from an unprecedented reading of the work of the great Milanese architect, conducted through the reconstruction of the dense web of relationships between design, art and architecture , which characterized all his research, the project investigates exchanges and mutual influences between Mendinian poetics and avant-garde artistic culture - from the dialogue with Arte Povera to the constant reference to Futurism up to the echoes of Divisionist and Metaphysical culture and the critical comparison with the aesthetics of Pop Art - both in the design of industrial objects and in the creation of works public and environmental installations, offering ample evidence of Mendini's multifaceted experimentation.
