Back_Up. Young art in Sardinia is an exhibition project involving 27 artists under forty , born in Sardinia. It is a survey of the new creative generations of the island that is unprecedented in scope and scope.

The artists selected for Back_Up were born in Sardinia, but this biographical data does not define them. Against the folkloristic and deterministic idea of an anthropologically different Sardinian identity, Back_Up demonstrates the existence of a varied and original set of practices, themes and points of view, and of paths and trajectories that move from Sardinia towards Italy, the 'Europe and beyond . Painting is the chosen language of many protagonists and protagonists of the new Sardinian scene, declined in neo-expressionist or neo-surrealist accents, with a predilection for the fantastic and the disturbing, and an attention to the relationship between interiority and landscape . The graphic sign is often sharp and precise, and is expressed in the most varied supports, from the page to the wall. Other artists turn their gaze to the political and the social, investigated with ethnographic sensitivity, with detached irony or with activist fervor. Sculpture, installation and performance are other practices through which one comes to terms with reality.
