The South Tyrol Museum of Natural Sciences is located in the historic center of Bolzano. The museum is part of the South Tyrolean provincial museums. The Museum is located in the late Gothic style building that once housed the Emperor Maximilian I of Habsburg from 1500. Even today it is possible to admire the hall with a Gothic vaulted ceiling, where temporary exhibitions are organized. The museum collection consists of a collection of geology and natural objects from South Tyrol. In particular, there are objects related to earth science, zoology, musicology and botany. Of great interest is the coral reef aquarium, which is the largest in the Alps. In addition, there are reconstructions and multimedia stations that help in the use of the museum. The Museum organizes temporary exhibitions which are the main attraction for families and children. The goal is to raise awareness of environmental ecology by addressing young people in collaboration with public and private schools and institutes.
