Palazzo Broletto

Palazzo Broletto of Pavia, the most ancient of Lombardy, is characterized by its charm and mystery.
In some areas of the building roman flooring have been found. The basement with pointed arches is considered the oldest one, the upper one is instead in Renaissance style, with particular attention for the loggia, which host a room once used for meetings. The palace become quadrilateral after the construction of the Duomo's apses. According to tradition, the edifice has been realized in XII century, at the wish of Bishop San Damiano, who desired it as a Domus Episcopi. The pediment with the clock in the loggia, instead, dates back to 1872.

The exposition space, managed by Cultural Sector of the Municipality of Pavia, is divided into four spacious rooms, located at the ground floor of the southern part of the Broletto.
Active from 2007, with a particular vocation for contemporary art exhibitions, Broletto hosted over the years several shows dedicated to both local young performers and well-knownartists.
