The Forlì museum reality presents a complexity of nuclei, constituted in large part in the nineteenth century. The two most important museum centers are the San Domenico Museums and Palazzo Romagnoli. The San Domenico Museums are home to the ancient section of the Civic Art Gallery, and host art and thematic exhibitions and international exhibitions. In the Civic Art Gallery you can admire the works of Beato Angelico, Lorenzo di Credi and Palmezzano. The museums also house the Fiasca with Flowers by the Maestro della Fiasca from Forlì, and Ebe, by the sculptor Antonio Canova. The collaboration with the Cassa dei Risparmi Foundation in Forlì has allowed the Museums to become the setting for temporary exhibitions of great importance. Palazzo Romagnoli instead rises in the oldest part of the city of Forlì. Inside Palazzo Romagnoli, the Civic Collections of the Twentieth Century are exhibited. The entire ground floor is dedicated to the permanent exhibition of the prestigious Verzocchi Collection. This Collection contains seventy paintings by Italian artists, such as Guttuso, Donghi, Vedova and De Chirico, united by the same common thread: work. On the first floor it is possible to admire the works of Giorgio Morandi, Adolfo Wildt and the "La Grande Romagna" section.
Palazzo Romagnoli rises in the oldest part of the city of Forlì, of which it still preserves memory: two tombs and tall tomb structures testify to the presence of a burial ground from the late Roman period. In the palazso Napoleon's Prefect, Lorenzo Romagnoli, settled in 1805. In 1965 the Palace was sold by the family to the Municipality of Forlì. Inside Palazzo Romagnoli, the Civic Collections of the Twentieth Century are exhibited. The entire ground floor is dedicated to the permanent exhibition of the prestigious Verzocchi Collection. This Collection, born from the will of an established entrepreneur of Forlì origin, collects seventy paintings by Italian artists of different generations and different artistic trends, from Guttuso to Donghi, from Vedova to De Chirico, united by the same thread: work . The visit continues on the first floor with the exhibition sections concerning important twentieth-century members of the civic art gallery: these are the pictorial and graphic works of Giorgio Morandi of the "Donazione Righini"; of the famous plastic series linked to the name of Adolfo Wildt and of the "La Grande Romagna" section, paintings and sculptures of the twentieth century, largely unknown to the general public, gathered here in special thematic areas.
