From 6 January to 16 April 2023
Frozen in time is the exhibition currently running at the Musiom.
The paintings by Gerard te Wierik represent movements by nature. Imagine “someone” pressing the pause button on the waving of grass, rippling of water or natural forces of a storm. These stills give the viewer a moment of reflection or meditation. A break from feeling rushed and stressed. His “stamping” techniques create a fascinating structure in the paint.
The glass panels, gates and other objects were mostly made from hot liquid glass solidified in a new and final shape. They reflect of the past and comment on today’s societal issues. They also suggest the existence of other worlds and even different dimensions. At the same time they are firmly solidified in space and time. His mastering of a wide variety of techniques is impressive to say the least.
