Contenitor in shape of partridge
1756 - 1790
The trompe-l'oeil ceramics had a great success in all European eighteenth century factories. Big cabbages, calabashes, lemons, artichokes, asparagus bunch, turkeys, brooding-hens and partridges were used to decorate tables during holidays. Among the most able producers of fine trompe-l'oeil majolica there are surely the two factories in Milan, as the pieces of our collection show.
