This “steatopygium” type sandstone statuette depicts a fat woman. The sexual attributes stand out, while feet, arms and face are missing, which places her among the testimonies generally referred to the cult of the mother-goddess. Stone finds of this type were produced in Europe between 40,000 and 10,000 years ago: this particular one could date back to one of the most recent phases of this period. Its chronology is however much debated, having been found out of context, near a Neolithic settlement.
