Homage to Latin America. Veiling (2026) by Regina José Galindo is a performance with a strong visual and symbolic impact, in which the artist's body is progressively veiled by a fluid red material, evoking blood, flesh, and collective memory. Lying on a white structure, Galindo allows herself to be slowly covered, transforming her body into a silent and vulnerable landscape. The act of "veiling" becomes a political and poetic gesture: on one hand it protects, on the other it erases, alluding to the processes of invisibilization and violence that have marked the history of Latin America.
The dense and dripping red expands beyond the body, staining the space and creating a tension between presence and dissolution. The performance unfolds in a dimension of immobility and duration, recurring elements in the artist's practice, which amplify the viewer's involvement and force them to confront an image that is both aesthetic and disturbing.
The body thus becomes a living archive of historical and personal traumas, while the veil takes shape as a fragile boundary between the visible and the invisible, identity and annulment. Commissioned and produced by the Emilio Scanavino Foundation and the Alik Cavaliere Center, in collaboration with Prometeogallery Milano, the performance reaffirms Galindo's strength in staging the body as a radical political space.
