Museum of European Cultures

The Museum Europäischer Kulturen (Museum of European Cultures) is an ethnological museum in Berlin that is one of the most important ethnological museums in Europe. Located in the Dahlem district, the museum was inaugurated in 1999 and was born from the union of two existing museum collections: the Folklore Museum and the European collection of the Ethnological Museum. The collection of the Museum Europäischer Kulturen includes around 280,000 objects that bear witness to the history of different European cultures, divided into 74 different categories, including objects of everyday life, costumes, jewelery, utensils and toys. The collection is unique of its kind due to the presence of at least one testimony from each European cultural minority. The museum is also active in the analysis of cultural changes related to migration within the continent. Numerous events, such as shows, temporary exhibitions and screenings, are regularly organized to introduce different European cultures.
