The International Museum and Library of Music is located in the historic center of Bologna in the prestigious Palazzo Sanguinetti. The building has been reopened to the public after a long and careful restoration, which has brought back the interior frescoes painted between the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century to their original splendor.

The splendidly frescoed rooms of the building that also hosted Gioacchino Rossini hold one of the most prestigious collections for the repertoire of printed music from the 16th to the 18th century, for its incunabula, precious manuscripts, opera librettos, as well as for the unique collection of autographs and letters , the result of a correspondence held by Father Martini, spiritual father of the Museum, with eminent personalities, scholars and musicians of the period.

The main floor of the International Museum and Music Library houses the nine rooms of the exhibition itinerary , which retrace about six centuries of European music history with over a hundred paintings by illustrious musicians, more than eighty ancient musical instruments.
