The Lumen - Mountain Photography Museum is located on top of the Plan de Corones. The museum is located in the heart of the Dolomites in an old cable car station at 2265 meters. Lumen is a unique monument of its kind that combines architecture and minimalist design, the photograph of the mountains and an amazing breathtaking mountain views. Lumen is home to a collection dedicated entirely to mountain photography from its beginnings to the present. The collection is characteristic for its interdisciplinary approach tied to mountaineering, tourism, politics, spirituality and history. The main focus is undoubtedly the topic of the mountain in all the different perspectives. Of great interest is the shutter: a grand opening giant that can be opened and closed to become a projection screen. The museum is divided into several sections that address different points of view related to mountain photography. One section in particular is home to the collection of materials and objects that have marked the history of photography, such as daguerreotype for recording and archiving of images.
