The Hungarian Railway Museum, officially known as Magyar Vasúttörténeti Park, is an open-air railway museum located at Tatai út 95, in the XIV district of Budapest, housed in the former locomotive depot of the MÁV (Hungarian State Railways) inaugurated in 2000 on an area of over 70,000 m².
Over 100 railway vehicles are on display, including fifty rare locomotives such as the legendary steam locomotive MÁV Class 424, the Árpád railcar from 1934, and an elegant teak restaurant car from the Orient Express. The impressive Orient Hall inside the roundhouse from 1911 with 34 tracks hosts historic passenger cars. Hands-on experiences include the opportunity to climb aboard steam and diesel locomotives, ride a handcar and motorized car, ascend the turntable, the garden train, and even a horse-drawn tram train.
