The Hungarian Natural History Museum (Magyar Természettudományi Múzeum), located in the historic Ludovika Academy complex at Ludovika tér 2-6, is the largest natural history museum in Hungary, with over 11 million specimens stored in the fields of zoology, botany, mineralogy, anthropology, and paleontology.
At the entrance, the 22-meter-long skeleton of a whale in the fjord of the Sea dominates, an iconic piece suspended under the dome of the foyer. “Sokszínű ÉLET – Diverse LIFE”, an immersive journey into Hungarian biodiversity with reconstructions of local fauna and flora, models of prehistoric sharks, and mammoths. “Lost Worlds – age of dinosaurs in Hungary” presents complete skeletons and original fossils of native species such as Hungarosaurus, Bakonydraco, and Iharkutosuchus.
