From 21 October to 31 December 2023
The exhibition - also organized with the contribution of the Lombardy Region - offers over 100 works including paintings, drawings and projects by a multifaceted artist - who can be placed between eclecticism and Liberty - widely active in the Bassa between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. Trained at the Academy of Parma and the Academy of Florence, he was a skilled draftsman and practiced easel painting, influenced initially by the Macchiaioli (Fattori was one of his teachers) and by divisionism, to reach symbolist results in later years.
However, most of his immense production was expressed in the field of great decoration (both in the sacred and civil spheres) and in architectural design, with very original results. He was also a drawing teacher at the "Bottoli" drawing school and trained groups of artisans who, with him, contributed to the building renovation of Casalmaggiore starting from 1910. Curated by Valter Rosa, the exhibition is accompanied by a rich catalog and a video documentary aimed at presenting the works spread in the area. On the same dates as the exhibition at the Diotti Museum, a collateral section will be set up at the Ducal Palace of Guastalla (RE).
