The exhibition “The stones and the Royal Palace: from Apricena to Caserta” will be inaugurated on November 25th, curated by the municipal administration of Apricena. Open until 3 March 2024 in the spaces of the Castelluccia, in the heart of the Bosco Vecchio of the Royal Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the exhibition is part of the initiatives of the Vanvitellian Celebrations with a view to enhancing the heritage of the marble quarries of which the Maestro Luigi Vanvitelli was used for the construction of his masterpiece. This exhibition project aims to explore contemporary influences to intercept the skilled hands of artists and architects who were able to give prestige to the Madrepietra of Apricena.

The exhibition is divided into two sections that interact with each other in the suggestive spaces of the Palace using the stone resource of Capitanata, chosen by Vanvitelli to create the colonnade on the main floor of the royal apartments. The first section, dedicated to the Madrepietra Museum "Sculture in Corso" , curated by Tiziana Di Sipio, displays the original sketches by the masters Giuliano Vangi, Ugo La Pietra, Cristian Biasci and Francesco Granito.

The second section, entitled "Dissonance / sculptures by Francesco Granito", curated by Gigliola Fania, is a significant selection of works by Granito, a sculptor originally from Apricena, in which the artist impresses a certain conception of the lightness and gravity of the material in agreement with the poetics of Italo Calvino.

The exhibition is included in the entrance ticket to the monument and is open to the public from Monday to Saturday (excluding Tuesday, the weekly closing day of the Complex) from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm, with last access at 1.00 pm.
