From 1 March to 15 July 2024
Over one hundred works featured in the “Visioni” exhibition tell the enlightened ingenuity of Luigi Vanvitelli seen through the eyes of Luciano D'Inverno and Luciano Romano. Until July 15th, in the spaces of the Grand Gallery of the Royal Palace of Caserta, it will be possible to admire the exhibition of the projects “Attraversamenti” by Luciano D'Inverno and “Genius et Loci – The dramaturgy of the gaze” by Luciano Romano, visited by the President of Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella, last February 29th.
The two projects, in addition to providing a further contribution to the knowledge of the figure of Vanvitelli, intend to refine the gaze, increasingly inclined to communicate through images, and to highlight how contemporary photography can be able to represent the salient episodes with ever greater effectiveness of the history of art, thanks to his ability to immediately convey its meaning and meaning. “In the era of the fast and disjointed flow and overlapping of images, of the indistinct succession of visual products, piled up as an indistinct quantity devoid of quality, the charm of photography – comments the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano – remains unchanged. The photo captures reality, like many other technological tools, but imparting a unique and poetic suspension to the moment it captures with the shot. Against time that passes quickly and against the media pastiche that trivialises everything, photography becomes a gesture with which to preserve the moment and make it eternal".
The Visioni exhibition is part of the challenging journey promoted by the Reggia di Caserta museum on the occasion of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the death of Luigi Vanvitelli (1773/2023).
The Royal Palace of Caserta is among the winners of the second edition of Strategia Fotografia, a call for tenders from the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. The shots, selected by the Museum, come together in a single exhibition, curated by Gabriella Ibello, conceived as a hypertext and a metatext that offer the visitor a multi-voiced reading of Vanvitelli's work. Hence the choice not to create real sections, but a suggested path to follow to orient oneself in the approximately 130 shots that embrace a good part of the 3 thousand square meters of space in the rooms partially returned by the Air Force which are returned to museum dignity and expand the cultural offer of the Royal Palace of Caserta.
