From 13 May to 1 November 2023
Augusto Bastianini is the protagonist of the exhibition curated by Patrizia La Porta at the Casole d'Elsa museum . An exhibition path created as part of the "Uffizi Diffuse" project and which has the landscape at its center, the so-called "impressions".
The representation of work in the Sienese fields and, later, in the sea of Versilia is one of Bastianini's artistic trends, together with portraiture . The latter is a genre to which Bastianini devoted himself extensively.
An important artist's self-portrait is the protagonist of the first stage of the Uffizi exhibition in Casole d'Elsa. Made in 1900 and donated to the Uffizi Gallery by the artist's widow in 1941, it will in fact be placed in dialogue with a group of other works by Bastianini himself and by painters of his time, both owned by the civic museum and from other collections.
Precisely around this masterpiece we intend to create a new exhibition to give an account of the news on the painter that has emerged in the last ten years . As is known, in fact, in 2013, after 73 years, a monographic exhibition on Augusto Bastianini was held in the Casole d'Elsa museum entitled: The art of Augusto Bastianini (Monteguidi, 1875 - Florence, 1938) between portraits, painting of the fields and lyrical impressions.
