The show

The exhibition displays for the first time the finds of a ceramic kiln discovered during the renovation works of the Palazzo dell'Esposizioni in Faenza.

The redevelopment works of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Faenza were the opportunity to launch an archaeological investigation campaign conducted by "adArte" under the supervision of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini which in the the first months of 2023 brought to light the well-preserved remains of a majolica production plant.

Kilns and discharges of ceramic material bear witness to an artisan activity that began towards the end of the 15th century and continued for a good part of the following century, the period of splendor of Faenza ceramic production.

The exhibition, promoted by the Rione Verde as part of the historic San Rocco Fair, was strongly supported by the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena and Rimini and by the Municipality of Faenza.

Curated by Fabio Alboni (adArte srl) and Chiara Cesaretti (adArte srl), it recounts different aspects of the excavation. In the MIC project room you can follow the production cycle of ceramics, through some finds discovered during excavations, which have been the subject of a partial restoration and which interact with similar finds already on display at the Museum.
