The exhibition Guardami! Will be held from 10 July to 4 October at the Pinacoteca di Ferrara. They are a story ... The Portaroli of Pitocchetto, before a series of three dossier exhibitions scheduled at the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Ferrara (July 2020 - March 2021), which offer an in-depth reflection on individual works from Italian museums, inviting the public to observe them from time to time carefully and to know the work of study, scientific organization and cultural communication in the museum and university environment.

The project, organized in partnership with the National Museum Network, in particular the Pinacoteca di Brera, the National Galleries of Ancient Art - Corsini Gallery in Rome and the Royal Museums of Turin, is the result of the collaboration between the Estense Galleries and the DiDiArt Laboratory of the Department of Humanities of the University of Ferrara.

The research, design and organization phases were attended by young UniFe scholars and students with the supervision of officials of the National Galleries and some members of the Scientific Committee of the Laboratory. The students had the opportunity to approach the life of the museum and to study in direct contact with those who have worked at the Galleries for years and have generously made their experience available.

“With these exhibitions we want to propose painting as a narrative. The exhibitions focus on important paintings in the history of art and were created to make the public appreciate the detailed and methodical analysis of the work of art - explains the director of the Estensi Galleries Martina Bagnoli - The viewer is encouraged to discover all that that a painting tells of a historical period, of an iconographic subject, of a pictorial style, of the relationship with the viewer. These small exhibition events were born to teach the public to slow down their gaze. They are also an opportunity to train budding curators. In fact, the exhibition is curated by students of the Department of Humanities of the University of Ferrara, who have followed each phase, from the preparation to the writing of the texts, from communication to teaching and have had the opportunity to appreciate the study work closely, scientific organization and cultural communication that the museum imposes ”.
