The first of a series of exhibitions created with works from the Tacchini Collection has been inaugurated. From today a museum itinerary with the wrought iron works of Umberto Bellotto
The “ Tacchini Collection. Act One. Sculpture and paper works ”, the first of a series of exhibitions that the Wolfsoniana of Nervi creates thanks to the works donated by the Tacchini Collection.
More than fifteen years after the first meeting between Micky Wolfson and Francesco Tacchini, the Tacchini Collection arrives at the Wolfsoniana, thus formalizing the stipulation of a Trust between the Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture and the collector for the management and promotion of its conspicuous and precious art collection.
Together with the exhibition, a new museum itinerary dedicated to the works of Umberto Bellotto, the Venetian master of wrought iron , was also inaugurated. The works come from the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at the Ca 'd'Oro in Venice.
The curators of the exhibition and of the new museum itinerary are Matteo Fochessati and Gianni Franzone, who recently passed away prematurely. And this double appointment at Nervi's Wolfsonian is an occasion to remember the scholar.
The Tacchini Collection exhibition offers a selection of works on paper and sculpture that testify to the varied identity and main characters of the Collection. There are two strands that develop within this path: on the one hand some aspects of graphic and pictorial research in Liguria are documented, in the years between the second half of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century; on the other hand it is possible to admire, through a wide international panorama, some of the main experiences of the historical avant-gardes of the twentieth century.
In the first area, prominent names such as Edoardo Alfieri, Eugenio Baroni, Edoardo De Albertis, Francesco Falcone and Adolfo Lucarini are protagonists, compared with national level sculptors such as Leonardo Bistolfi and Francesco Messina who worked in Liguria contributed to revive the already effervescent context local search. This selection of bronzes and plasters integrates with the drawings and paintings on paper of some of the most famous Ligurian painters, thus documenting the main expressive currents of the time.
