From 6 April to 10 July , great Baroque painting is on stage in the splendid rooms of the seventeenth-century Palazzo Doria Carcassi , headquarters of the Carige Foundation . Set up on the spectacular noble floor of the noble residence, the exhibition, curated by Anna Orlando, is part of the great artistic event that the city dedicates to the Century of the Genoese and presents a rich anthology of 33 works by Flemish and Genoese masters from the two collections of art of the Bank and the Carige Foundation. Particularly evocative is the setting of the exhibition which is accessed by climbing a monumental staircase surrounded by frescoes, theories of columns and the perspective games of tromp l'oeil architectures.

The works, gathered for the first time in a single exhibition body open to the public, are located in the original seventeenth-century halls of Palazzo Doria, decorated with refined stuccos in the typical style of the "Genoese baroque". Among the paintings, some well-known masterpieces are exhibited. but also works that represent a real discovery for the visitor. On display we meet great masters such as Anton Van Dyck, Bernardo Strozzi, Domenico Piola, Gio. Benedetto Castiglione, Valerio Castello and Alessandro Magnasco together with their pupils and followers, such as Bartolomeo Biscaino or Stefano Magnasco. A particular focus is proposed both on the Caravaggeschi, such as Gioacchino Assereto and Orazio De Ferrari , and on the naturalists, such as Domenico Fiasella and Giovanni Andrea De Ferrari , and on their ability to stage mythological fairy tales, biblical scenes or everyday stories in large crowded and colorful canvases. .

An elegant and evocative setting accompanies the visitor along a path that places the works in an environment similar to the original one of origin, the Palazzi di Strada Nuova for the Bank's collections and the complex of the Brignole Sale Institute for the Foundation, offering a meeting up close with the best of Genoese Baroque in painting.
