The Evaristo Valle Museum in Gijon was established in 1981 as a Cultural Foundation.
The merit of its foundation is due to María Rodríguez del Valle - the painter's niece - who kept the artist's works, personal objects and documents that today make up the museum's holdings.
The museum is now divided into two buildings: the first built to house the museum in 1971 and the other subsequently adapted to the new destinations, declared in 2017, together with the artistic work, an Asset of Cultural Interest in the Monument category. Both buildings are located within splendid gardens where more than twenty sculptures by contemporary artists are exhibited, with a space also dedicated to the study of botany.
The central heart of the museum is however the work of Evaristo Valle: in fact, more than one hundred works organized chronologically, thematically or technically are exhibited here, which bring the visitor closer to the knowledge of his artistic path and his career.
Along with the reconstruction of his studio, the evocative collection of shells inherited by the painter from his father is also exhibited.
