The show

BEST WORK XXIX CONTEMPORARY CERAMIC COMPETITION TO THE OPERA "MARGHERITA AND PINOCCHIO" BY MARGHERITA GRASSELLI

The inauguration of the Exhibition of the XXIX Contemporary Ceramics Competition Grottaglie Prize 2022 took place on Saturday 25 June , organized by the Municipality of Grottaglie inside the Episcopio Castle of Grottaglie. The winning artists were also announced during the evening.


37 works selected by the jury out of 99 presented by 76 artists from all over the world.

Members of the Jury: Ciro D'Alò, Mayor of Grottaglie (President), Marco Maria Polloniato, expert in ceramics and art historian, Eva Degl'Innocenti, Director of the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, Massimo Guastella, Professor of Art History Contemporary University of Salento, Lecce, Michele Peragine, RAI Journalist.

The Jury, chaired by Ciro D'Alò, Mayor of the Municipality of Grottaglie, after having observed the selected works, individually expressed their own judgments merged into a synthesis. In comparison, he agrees in the following evaluation: The Best Work Award XXIX Contemporary Ceramics Competition - Grottaglie Award 2022 is assigned to Margherita Grasselli's work “Margherita and Pinocchio” for the theme it deals with the character of relaxation. The figure of childhood is represented as recovery, rebirth and play. The subject lets itself be captured by its expressive immediacy.


Prize Personal exhibition XXIX Contemporary Ceramics Competition ex-aequo for the works:

“Quinto Quarto” by ORTOGONALE Studio, a work that refers, through the ceramic medium, to the tradition of peasant civilization that recovered waste to ensure survival; "12 steps" by Elena Cappai. The series of small monochrome sculptures represents an introspective investigation of the author through plastic suggestions.

The Jury makes a special mention for the theme and for the invoice in favor of the following works:

"Disanimal" by Giovanna Russo;

Ielizaveta Portnova's “The Bird”;

“Vita” by Alessandra Guerri;

"Vase character chiaroscuro" by Guido De Zan

"THYMOS. Sacrifice Zone - Green Transition ”by Francesco Spagnulo


The exhibition will be open until 25 September at the following times:
