The Piece Hall is regarded as one of the most significant historic site redevelopment projects in the UK. The Piece Hall is located in the heart of Halifax. Built in 1779, it was a building intended for the textile trade, so much so that it became a landmark in Halifax's commercial, civil and cultural life for nearly 250 years. Today The Piece Hall is a cultural center and exhibition space.
Within its spaces, Piece Hall houses an interactive section called "The Piece Hall Story" which tells of the city's heritage. In addition, the Map Room has interactive maps, which show how the wool fabrics sold in Halifax were traded and sold throughout the world.
Piece Hall also periodically organizes photography and sculpture exhibitions as well as numerous cultural events of various kinds.
