The MAC of Lissone dedicates an exhibition to Antonio Scaccabarozzi that investigates three decades of work, from the beginning of the 1980s to the new Millennium. Fascinated by the lightness, transparency, and versatility of polyethylene, the artist uses the plastic material to address the issue and limits of vision, questioning the duality of painting (front and back) and its relationship and extension in space. Hence the title of the exhibition, Vo[i]ler Couleur, in which the play between words unites and distinguishes and brings together these themes. As in the Quantità libere where color, another crucial element, is spread to create a vibrant form that changes depending on the light that passes through it, the wall on which it is displayed, and the presence of the viewer who inadvertently modifies it. Polyethylene is also used in the cycles of the Banchise and Ekleipsis created in the second half of the 1990s. This time, the translucent membrane is a place of chromatic-environmental experience and expression: the work bends, extends, and flutters, thanks to its plastic resilience and the lightness of its installation with nylon threads, very thin nails, or removable tape.
