From 17 November to 29 January 2023
REPLAY - Context specific installations and meetings on contemporary museology is back, the project launched in November 2021 curated by Francesca Guerisoli which aims to stimulate a debate on the idea of a museum, of a collection, of fruition and cultural mediation starting from the collection history of the Lissone Prize.
From November 16th to January 29th N 0 will be presented, a context-specific installation by the artist Domenico Antonio Mancini (Naples, 1980) which plays on the idea of masking and consequent unveiling of the collection of the historic Premio Lissone, placing it at the center of a renewed attention. N 0 also aims to trigger a series of general reflections on life, on the role of contemporary art museums today and their relationship with the public.
For this project, Domenico Antonio Mancini chooses to start from the specificity of the place: Lissone, the museum, the Award and its layout. The Gino Meloni Room presents a selection of works from the MAC's permanent collection, 34 paintings set up in a picture gallery style. The works occupy the entire back wall of the room and the two adjacent sides, without textual indications. The set of related captions is grouped in a panel placed on a fourth wall. Mancini's installation takes its cue from these physical characteristics to become a tool for analyzing the relationship between the collection and the space in which it is set up, the ways in which the public enters into relationship with the works and the relationship between them. N 0 therefore reflects on the preparation of the work and its identification, on the exhibited object and its description.
