The MAC Museum of Contemporary Art of Lissone presents Stefano Cagol's solo exhibition We Are the Flood , part of the homonymous project on environmental issues, multidisciplinary and relational, solitary and shared, created thanks to the support of the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture as part of the Italian Council (12th edition, 2023), the program for the international promotion of Italian contemporary art.

The exhibition at the MAC, curated by Francesca Guerisoli, is spread over three floors of the museum and revolves around a new installation: the monumental writing "WE ARE THE FLOOD". The concept "we are" (we are) is the founding principle of the project, which consists of a choral act of awareness that causes and effects are not foreign to us: we are the destructive deluge and the potential answer.

The We Are the Flood installation is made with petroleum-derived, recycled and recyclable waste plastics, multicolored and non-toxic. It is a contemporary "monument" that represents our society and which, taking a thousand years to degrade, will probably survive it.

The work will become part of the MAC collection and will be completed by a series of performances and videos produced by the artist over the next few months in various symbolic places from a natural and anthropocentric point of view, from tropical rain forests to the desert, up to the moors Arctic, moving to Egypt, Malaysia, Greenland and Kyrgyzstan thanks to the collaboration of four international partners.

On the evening of the inauguration – exceptionally at 9 pm, on the occasion of the XIX Contemporary Art Day organized by AMACI, the Association of Italian Modern and Contemporary Art Museums – the artist, like a shaman, will perform a contemporary ritual. The performance will take place among the elements that make up the words "WE ARE THE FLOOD" and will lead to a collective and propitiatory moment, thus opening the long journey that will lead the work around the world.
