Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum of Livorno

The Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum

On 3 December 1994 the Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum was inaugurated in its current location: the magnificent Villa Mimbelli, which had been specially subjected to a complex restoration, which had also recovered what remained of the furnishings and decorations of the rich rooms, and of museographic adaptation, which had also included contemporary elements.

Heir to more than 150 years of history, the Museum preserves and exhibits a collection, especially of paintings, ranging from the mid-1800s to the 40s of the 1900s, with important groups of Livorno artists (Fattori, Corcos, Nomellini etc. ) and some works by Tuscan artists and others (Lega, Signorini, Boldini etc.).

The Museum carries out conservation and restoration, research and study, education activities also in collaboration with other institutions. Finally, it organizes, participates and hosts exhibitions and cultural initiatives.
