The Estorick Collection in London is one of the most important collections and the only British museum entirely dedicated to Italian modern art. The collection, housed in a historic building in the English capital, was put together by the American sociologist and writer Eric Estorick who, already a great lover and collector, approached Italian art around the 1940s thanks to Umberto Boccioni. In fact, the museum is above all known for its exceptional nucleus of Futurist works which includes artists of the caliber of Boccioni himself, Carrà, Russolo, Severini and Balla. In addition to the nucleus of futurists, the Estorick Collection houses some of the most significant masterpieces of Italian artists of the first half of the twentieth century, including Amedeo Modigliani with his various drawings and a portrait and Giorgio de Chirico, founding artist of Metaphysical Art.
It is also here that there is a large number of paintings and drawings by Mario Sironi, Giorgio Morandi, Zoran Music and Massimo Campigli, the latter three were also friends of Estorick himself. As for sculpture, the museum possesses works by Medardo Rossom by Emilio Greco, Giacomo Manzù and Marino Marini.
The Estorick Collection is also home to numerous events and exhibitions, not only of Italian art, throughout the year.
