The Horniman Museum and Gardens is a London museum, more precisely in Forest Hill.
It was founded by Frederick John Horniman, a businessman who inherited from an uncle a company of you that grew to the point of becoming a big source of income and allowing him to carry on his passion for collecting. Thus was born, in 1901, the Hornimam Museum which is presented in a modern style. The museum, in the course of its history, was enlarged twice: once in 1911 by Horniman's son, Emslie Horniman, who added the west part of the main building. The latest extension is much more recent, dating back to 2002.
The Horniman Museum specializes in anthropology and natural history but the collection of stuffed animals is remarkable.
Not to be forgotten are the gardens that cover 65 thousand square meters which include: a veranda from 1894 that belonged to the Hornimans family, a stage for orchestra from 1912, a house for butterflies and one for small animals, an ornamental garden.
A new building was also built, a pavilion, where materials from outside the museum are processed.
The Horniman Museum garden is also listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Interest in England.
