Kensington Palace is one of the most important royal palaces in England.
Built between 1689 and 1760, it hosted many members of the royal family in its apartments, starting with Queen Victoria who was born there in 1819 and was also baptized there.
The palace, which is spread over four floors, was enlarged according to Sir's plan. Christopher Wren, architect author of several projects commissioned by the royal family. It was he who had the two side pavilions, the royal apartments, the grand staircase, a chapel and a council chamber added.
For more than seventy years after its construction, the palace served as a summer residence for the royal family and then became the official one.
Carl, Prince of Wales and Diana lived here in the years of their marriage, and more recently the Dukes of Cambridge.
Inside Kensington Palace it is possible to visit the apartments of Queen Victoria with the adjoining gallery of royal portraits and the collection of ceremonial dresses, including that of Princess Diana herself.
