The National Army Museum is the history museum of the English army.
Opened in 1950, it is located in the elegant Chelsea district in the heart of London.
After an important restoration and modernization of the rooms, it was reopened in 2017 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth.
The National Army Museum differs from other museums that house the same kind of collections, as it collects objects (in total more than a million) that cover much of English history for a total period of six hundred years without specifically focusing on certain armed corps. .
Inside, the museum is divided into five main galleries: Soldiers, Army, Battles, Society and curiosities.
Over the years, many collections have been transferred to this museum, among which the following stand out: the former collections of the Women's Royal Army Corps, the Buffs and the Middlesex Regiment; part of the collection of the former Army Transport Museum; the disbanded Irish regiments; the Indian (British) Army collections; the Grenadier Guards and the Coldstream Guards archives.
In addition, the National Army Museum also collects an important historical archive that includes prints, books, maps and army documents.
Nor should we forget the part dedicated to photography.
The National Army Museum periodically organizes exhibitions and events.
