Ranger's House is a historic building located in London, more precisely in Blackheath, near Greenwich Park.
The construction of the house probably dates back to 1722-1723 and was commissioned by Vice Admiral Hosier who later settled there until his untimely death in 1727. Many years later, in 1902, the building was purchased by the London County Council.
Ranger's House plays a particularly significant role as it is the home of the Wernher Collection, put together in the nineteenth century by the namesake magnate from which it takes its name, Sir. Julius Wernher.
The collection is arranged in twelve rooms and has about seven hundred pieces including works by Filippino Lippi, Hans Memling, Gabriël Metsu, Francesco Francia, Sir Joshua Reynolds, George Romney, John Hoppner and above all the work of Botticelli "Madonna with the meglograno".
The Wernher Collection, given the importance of the works, is today an example for what are the decorative arts and Renaissance art.
